Voices Together

Recently, we welcomed Dr. June Atkinson, North Carolina Superintendent for Public Instruction, to an observation in Alamance County. It was a wonderful experience to observe and discuss our program model with Dr. Atkinson, teachers, specialists, and school board members.

Dr. Atkinson has endorsed our new classroom model for teachers working with pre-kindergarten to high school students with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Dr. Atkinson stated, “Voices Together is a dynamic best practice and offers unique tools for teaching critical skills to our students… Through the development of the Teacher Toolbox, we expect to be able to make these strategies available more broadly to teachers and students… When I visited a Voices Together group, I saw students excited to connect with their peers and motivated to communicate. It was obvious that they were committed to interacting, learning and were gaining essential skills. This program model should be in every classroom in North Carolina.”

Yasmine White, CEO and Founder of Voices Together, is thrilled to have this endorsement and said, “This endorsement validates the hard work our team has been putting into refinement and improvements to our VOICSS™ model for classroom teachers called Voices Together Teacher Toolbox. We will launch this professional development component in the Alamance-Burlington School System for Fall 2016.”
