Voices Togther in Education Performance Week

Unique program in Durham Public Schools holds end of year performances April 28th through May 1st
Voices Together in Education will hold end of the year choral performances showcasing this special program at the Durham Public Schools the last week of April. Voices Together is an evidence-based technique that uses music and the structure of a chorus to support the core curriculum in the classroom, which includes conversational skills, reading, concept development, and critical thinking skills. Voices Together helps bridge the gap for students to process, experience and digest knowledge learned in the classroom in a spontaneous and interactive setting.

Voices Together has partnered with the Durham Public Schools, VSA Arts (an affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts), The Durham Center, and Durham Arts Council to provide this unique program to middle and high school students with special needs.

As part of the end of year celebration, students participating in Voices Together in Education will perform for the community. The hour long choral performances will be held at Durham Arts Council, 120 Morris Street in downtown Durham, and will begin each day at 10:00 a.m.. The week of free events will feature choral groups from Jordan, Riverside, Southern and The Durham School of the Arts high schools as well as Neal, Githens and Lowe's Grove middle schools. On Thursday, April 30th, there will also be a special performance by Voices For All, our first inclusive chorus with Riverside's High School Advanced Girls' Chorus. Please refer to the following schedule for specific schools:
