Voices Together Singers
Voices Together Singers is a performing chorus of musicians with developmental disabilities that are establishing themselves not only as a quality performing arts ensemble but as a group that advocates for themselves and is in the process of establishing a new audience base.
Voices Together was awarded a grant from the North Carolina Arts Council last year to open the first group. We opened this group last November successfully. The Singers, under the direction of an exceptional choral director, Dr. Katharine Boyes, has blossomed and gave their first performance at the Durham Arts Council in April.
Since then, they have been in our Triangle communities performing at various events by invitation. As The Singers offer these performances to the public the experience of the audiences will be not only broadened because of the individuals that we are including but will be deepened by the understanding of the potential of this under-served and underestimated population in our communities.
