Joyu Lee, MM, MT-BC

Joyu Lee, MM, MT-BC – The musical path of board-certified music therapist Joyu Lee has taken her from New York, Taiwan, Ohio, Japan, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and Chicago, to Raleigh/Durham, NC.

Joyu received a Masters of Cello Performance degree from Cleveland Institute of Music, and completed her Equivalency in Music Therapy at Appalachian State University. She is also an advanced trainee of the Bonny Method Guided Imagery and Music (GIM).

Joyu has been with Voices Together since August of 2019. Prior to that, she worked at Cherry Hospital and Central Regional Hospital as a creative/expressive arts therapist serving clients with a wide range of mental health concerns, and conducted daily music therapy groups for at-risk youths, adults, and older adults.

Joyu’s core values are client-centered and multicultural. Her therapeutic approach includes compassionate care, collaborative team work, intentional communication, and celebrating cultural diversity.

Fun Fact: Joyu is the cellist of Vida Strings, a professional string quartet that focuses on innovative research combining music & medicine.
