PROGRAM MODEL

Voices Together therapists use counseling skills to validate participants as they learn how to manage emotions, self-regulate their behavior, and ask for help. Basic social rules such as greeting, listening, turn taking, and gaining someone’s attention are also covered, as well as job seeking strategies.

SUMMER SESSION – 8 WEEKS

(June 18 – August 13)      Workplace Readiness Sessions

  • Focusing on communication skills and social/emotional learning, individuals work as a team to learn to communicate, interact, and work with others.
  • Each interactive session is conducted as a group with 8-12 participants. The structured program includes a written schedule on a white board, providing a list of program activities for the participants.
  • Each session delivers curriculum with a discussion section, problem-solving sections, and practice elements with peers.

THE SESSIONS

One Voices Together music therapist will be assigned to each group (8-12 participants) and will offer a forty-five minute to one-hour session once a week.

Participants who normally have a support worker or parent accompany them need to have a caretaker present at the session. Participants who are normally independent may attend independently.

Beginning June 18, sessions will be held in Durham, Orange, Wake and Guilford Counties at multiple community locations between 3:00-5:00 PM. There will be no session the week of July 2 due to the holiday. Please contact us for more information on locations/times.
